Sri Lanka Bats First Against New Zealand

Sri Lanka bats first against New ZealandCOLOMBO: Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara won the toss and elected to bat first in the second cricket test against New Zealand at Sinhalese Sports Club on Wednesday.

Sri Lanka aiming for a 2-0 series whitewash, made three changes to the side that won the first test in Galle last week. Strike bowler Nuwan Kulasekera, spinner Ajantha Mendis and Anjelo Mathews have been rested, while Dammika Prasad, Rangana Herath and Chamara Kapugedera were introduced to the lineup.

New Zealand fielded an unchanged side from the last match.

Teams:

Sri Lanka: Kumar Sangakkara (captain), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Tharanga Paranavitana, Mahela Jayawardene, Thilan Samaraweera, Chamara Kapugedera, Prasanna Jayawardene, Rangana Herath, Muttiah Muralitharan, Dammika Prasad, Thilan Thushara.

New Zealand: Daniel Vettori (captain), Daniel Flynn, Martin Guptill, Brendon McCullum, Tim McIntosh, Chris Martin, Iain O’Brien, Jacob Oram, Jeetan Patel, Jesse Ryder, Ross Taylor.

Umpires: Daryl Harper, Australia, and Nigel Llong, England.

TV Umpire: Kumar Dharmasena, Sri Lanka. Match Referee: Andy Pycroft, Zimbabwe.
